Project “Enhanced Response to Sexual and Reproductive Health in Akkar for Women and Girls”.
In the period from June 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023, with the support of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the Society for Inclusion and Development in Communities and Care for All (SIDC) implemented a project entitled “Enhanced Response to Sexual and Reproductive Health in Akkar for Women and Girls.” The goal of this project was to increase knowledge of issues related to sexual and reproductive health, drug use, and mental health through the participation of vulnerable groups of women, boys, and girls in awareness and education. This project comes within the framework of the work of both the IRC, which has programs to prepare awareness campaigns and implement field community interventions, and SIDC, which has a long history of field work and raising awareness about issues of sexual and reproductive health, drug use, mental health, and others.
Within this framework, SIDC completed a set of activities and trained a team of field workers from the IRC working in several areas in Akkar. The training equipped them with the topics related to sexual and reproductive health, drugs, and mental health. The training also addressed how to intervene in the field with marginalized groups and provide them with health information, communication, and field awareness, away from all forms of stigma and discrimination related to the aforementioned topics. The training lasted four days and was followed by field follow-up and continuous training sessions.
